Traditonal Ways

gandhi was married at the age of 13. When he was 19 he was sent to London to study Law. The caste system leader tried to refrain him from leaving but he stood up to him because he wanted to please his family. He also promised his family not to return with out his law degreee

Early Years

Gandhi was born in 1869 in India. He was the youngest Hindu in his family and he belonged to the merchant part of the caste system. His mother was very traditional so he did what he could to please her. His father worked in the goverment and that is also one of Gandhi's influences.

Gandhi Introduction

Gandhi's full name is Mohandas Gandhi. Gandhi was a great leader who was also a non-violent activist. He fought for the poor and they called him "Mahatma" or great soul. He had power but not in the usaul way like a president but the kind where he influnced alot of people.

Ghandi

Ghandi was a non- violent activist. He believed that everyone was equal no matter what religon, race or gender. But, there was a problem because Britian ruled India and some of thier rules and laws were unfair. There for he then started his study on equal rights of every person. The british did not like it when Ghandi prosted peacefully because he was making such an impact. For example, the salt march. Ghandi protested peacefully just by taking salt water and removing the salt instead of having to pay the high tax for salt. The british did not like this so they put Ghandi in jail. After some years they finally let Ghandi go because they were afriad that he might die. Finally, in 1947 Britain granted India their independence. But one thing Ghandi said really stuck with me is "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."
