When Mr. Morrison said that he did not want people to start to wonder how the fire even started looking at papa. Saying that he should just let people think that "lightning" caused the fire and he got what he deserved losing a quarter of his cotton.

I think that papa is saying that they knew that most of the white folks in the community would start coming for them because they were black. And were still upset because of the previous event so this gave them even more of a reason to mess with the black people in the community.

They always stick up for each other. And always try to keep each other cool calm and level headed so they do not get themselves killed. Also they are there for each other no matter what like when Uncle Hammer sold his car just to help papa pay the mortgage in full or just for that month.

I would feel scared and sad that my life has just been cut short. And I would try to repent to God with my numbered days asking him for forgiveness. And I would have regretted the way I treated the Logans because they were like the only friends that I did have.
